Community Engagement Coordinator - Colorado Springs
Rocky Mountain Public Media, home to Rocky Mountain PBS and KUVO radio, is the largest statewide, member-supported, multi-media network in Colorado. To further this mission, Rocky Mountain Public Media seeks a full-time Community Engagement Coordinator.
DESCRIPTION: A Community Engagement Coordinator works in cross-functional teams, with external partners, members and viewers to plan and execute highly impactful outreach and engagement efforts that align with statewide engagement plan. To achieve our mission of strengthening the civic fabric of Colorado, this job entails providing viewer services, coordinating volunteers, interns, and executing on several events and outreach efforts each year. This role is detail oriented, works well in team environments, provides excellent customer service and is mostly outward-facing.
TYPICAL DUTIES: Responsible for execution of annual community engagement plan in alignment to the overall marketing and engagement strategy to fulfill the mission in the Southern Colorado region. Identifies, develops and maintains community partnerships that further the Rocky Mountain Public Media mission in Southern Colorado to activate content and outreach efforts that align with our core content areas; education, journalism, and culture. Manages cohesive community engagement activity with volunteers and contractors to execute outreach efforts. Includes regional maintenance of volunteer training, coordination, and database; intern and work/study student supervision. Plans and executes the Rocky Mountain PBS Kids Fun Fest (an annual summer event in Colorado Springs), Community Screenings of RMPBS content (for example Colorado Experience, Arts District, Victoria, Youth Documentary Academy), and coordinates RMPBS participation in additional community events. Serves as office manager and coordinates administrative needs such as accounts payable, budget tracking, office supplies, and office documents. Provides customer service to viewers and members. Coordinates usage and scheduling of conference rooms space as needed. Utilizes electronic platforms and databases to maintain and update regional details. Supports Southern Colorado Regional Director as well as the support of revenue-generating activities; including memberships, ticket sales, and underwriters.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Volunteers, interns and work-study students as assigned/needed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS OF POSITION: Demonstrated organizational skills including effective time management and attention to detail; ability to manage multiple projects/events at once. Must have excellent communication and networking skills to greet the public and community partners, answer phones, assist with other customer service related activities, and events. Must be passionate about growing professional skill set and gaining experience in public media. Must demonstrate a collaborative, team-oriented approach. Motivated team-player to work with statewide, cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, dynamic environment a must. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Excellent computer skills with standard office systems and software, including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Skype, SmartSheets, SharePoint). Excellent customer service skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS OF POSITION: Four-year college degree preferred; those with business/public media experience are encouraged to apply. Administrative, sales, event planning or revenue-generating experience preferred.
