Community Engagement Coordinator – Denver

Rocky Mountain Public Media, home to Rocky Mountain PBS and KUVO Jazz radio, is the largest statewide, member-supported, multi-media network in Colorado. Rocky Mountain Public Media’s mission is to strengthen the civic fabric in communities throughout Colorado, engaging audiences through high-quality, trusted programming, community programs and partnerships, and educational initiatives that inform, enlighten and entertain. To further this mission, Rocky Mountain Public Media seeks a full-time Community Engagement Coordinator.


DESCRIPTION:   The Community Engagement Coordinator is a key role within the Community Engagement team, having primary responsibility for the successful execution of in-person engagement events (approximately 8-12 per year). He/she will also support the department in its use of off/online engagement strategies and tools to engage our audience and the general public in our programming and initiatives.


TYPICAL DUTIES:  Coordination of Marketing and Membership events, including working with external venue, catering, and A/V partners. Establishment of ongoing relationships with local venues, caterers, A/V partners.  Management and application of the Community of Interest database, updating contacts as needed and implementing community outreach activities as part of a larger marketing program (e.g. email to targeted groups).   Development and distribution of digital engagement toolkits, including discussion guides and Q&A/talking points.  Update and maintenance of a statewide community calendar, as well as the RMPBS Community Calendar on the website.  Support of general community engagement projects, including promotion of national and local programming throughout the year.  Support of the Education department’s special initiatives within the Denver metro area.


QUALIFICATIONS:  Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism or related field required, or equivalent, relevant job experience.  Prior experience planning and executing screenings and/or community events strongly preferred.  High proficiency with Microsoft Office suite a must.  Detail-oriented with ability to manage several projects simultaneously.  Strong written communication skills.  Experience with social media marketing in a business environment a plus.  Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, work with a team, take direction from various directors, and work within established budgets.  Willingness to learn various technology solutions for engagement, including Facebook Live streaming, Eloqua (email marketing software), etc.
