COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — You can take the girl out of Texas radio — and drop her on the doorstep of Red Dirt’s Colorado home, where she’ll be most warmly welcomed.
This week, Mountain Country Radio Group (KQSC) announced Carly Evans as Music Director (MD), taking over the reigns from station General Manager, Dave West. Evans initially came to Mountain Country in May as on-air talent (9A-1P). Now, she will continue her on-air shift as she takes on greater responsibilities as MD.
Prior to her arrival at Mountain Country, Evans spent three years as Program Director and morning show co-host at Brazos Valley Country KORA in Bryan-College Station, TX. Evans brings with her 16 years of radio experience, as well as wide-reaching knowledge of and connections in the Texas/Red Dirt country scene. She is intent on helping artists reach even more fans, new and old, outside of their more familiar fanbase regions. Evans wants to help further spread the sound of Red Dirt throughout southern Colorado, which continues to gain traction as a hotbed for the country music sub-genre.
“I hope to continue Mountain Country’s tradition of being community driven and bringing these amazing Red Dirt artists to our listeners, while also fostering an even greater
thirst for and relationship with, what I feel, is some of the best music in existence today,” Evans said.
Mountain Country is rapidly growing as Colorado’s primary Red Dirt radio station. It has provided a platform for up-and-coming and established country artists since early 2016and is excited to bring Evans onboard in the highly-valued role of MD.
“I am thrilled to have someone with such a strong background in programming country radio, and specifically her experience and knowledge of the Red Dirt scene, Carly is an amazing addition to our station.” Dave West, General Manager
