FCC EAS 2023 Handbook & Software Updates

Federal Communications Commission (FCC) regulations require all broadcast properties to have a copy of the Emergency Alert System Operating Handbook posted at each station control point.  The 2023 edition is available for download here, or directly from the FCC website.

There will be a national EAS test on October 4th, 2023.

Form One is due September 15th, Form Two is due October 5th and Form Three is due November 20th.

As a reminder, the FCC has enacted new rules that affect the programming of EAS decoders. All stations are required to install the updated software by December 12th, 2023. Engineers have reported that these updates are not straightforward, nor easy and stations should not to wait until the last minute to secure and install the updated software.

If you have any questions about the update for your EAS device, contact your manufacturer. A few common resources are below.
