The On-Air Host is responsible for delivering the "sound" of KUVO Jazz radio. The position announces radio program of musical selections and chooses music to be played based on program specialty, knowledge of audience taste, or listening audience requests until automation is implemented. This position assumes production and writing/scripting responsibilities for quality over the air content. In addition, host will conform to the programming schedule and read live written copy when applicable. This position is full time with opportunities for overtime.


  • Announces on-air, up to 4 hours, Monday-Friday (exact hours TBD)
  • Brands in and out of talk breaks.
  • Makes quality selection of music elements based on a program clock.
  • Operates a 16 channel Axia AoP mixer with integrated telephones.
  • Troubleshoot broadcast equipment malfunctions with Comrex Access.
  • Prepares for pledge drives by developing quality content and partnerships within the organization.
  • Reads live copy for direct brand marketing and promotional campaigns over the air.
  • Creates new segments/promotional campaigns/public affairs campaigns for shows.
  • Conduct interviews via telephone or in person.
  • Can operate Vox Pro for pre-recorded talk breaks.
  • Performs with superior voice over skills and can self-produce voice work.
  • Host remote broadcasts at live music venues and community events
  • Can operate EAS systems and has an intimate knowledge of EAS standards.

Minimum Qualifications of Position

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent, is required.
  • B.S. Communication or similar field preferred.
  • At least 8 years broadcast experience is required.
  • At least three years exposure to jazz music genres and artists is preferred.
  • Creative, independent problem solving with little or no supervision

This position works primarily in an office and radio studio environments, with occasional events appearances. This position must be able to work a flexible schedule with occasionally long hours including some evenings and weekends. Must be able to travel on occasion.
