At Rocky Mountain Public Media, we see graphic design as a form of visual storytelling that connects with our audiences and inspires them to consume our content. We are looking for a versatile graphic designer who can take concepts and ideas to create compelling art in digital, print, and broadcast form. The ideal candidate is highly proficient with Adobe's Creative Suite of products; Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects and InDesign, and has a thorough understanding of branding and marking. The person we want to see in this role has the ability to find the right style and layout for every project, collaborates cross-departmentally with key stakeholders, and can take written or spoken ideas and convert them into a design that connects.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Works on a wide range of projects using Adobe's Creative Suite of products to develop innovative graphic designs that meet the needs of each project.
  • Obtains input from project stakeholders and managers to ensure designs meet organizational and brand standards to accurately express and represent the company or client appropriately.
  • Collaborates, brainstorms, and strategizes with multiple teams/team members on wide range of materials that might include web pages, motion graphics for broadcast elements, internal/external communications, presentations, newsletters, digital graphics, and other marketing materials.
  • Keeps up with industry trends and implements modern graphic design techniques into daily work.
  • Works independently or collaboratively with the Audience Development Team to meet deadlines, stay within budget and on schedule in a fast-paced media environment.
  • Actively participates in RMPM's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) training program. Uses key standards and teachings of DEI training in day-to-day work.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5 years of experience required.
  • High proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud projects, especially Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, InDesign, and other related applications.
  • Experience and demonstrated skills in creating motion graphic broadcast packages, print design, logo creation and Microsoft Office Template creation.
  • Understanding and experience with various video codecs, compressions, and delivery methods.
  • Strong computer skills in all Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to effectively tell stories and communicate our organization's brand visually with graphics, video, and audio.
  • Experience conceptualizing and creating story boards for multiple platforms (online/on-air).
  • Ability to lift and carry production equipment up to 50lbs.

  • Must be able to work both independently and as a collaborative and productive team member.
  • Must possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work professionally and productively with persons at all levels.
  • Must possess exceptional time management, decision making and organizational skills.
  • Must be detail-oriented with an ability to manage several projects simultaneously.
  • Must have a demonstrated ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and work within established budgets.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and an acceptable MVR; must be insurable for driving station vehicles.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position works primarily in office, studio, editing, and/or field environments. This position must be able to work a flexible schedule with occasionally long hours including some evenings and weekends. Must be able to travel throughout the state and beyond, on occasion.
