Primary Purpose
Organizes shift-specific strategy and training at our Real-Time Desk, in addition to working at ground level to gather content and digitally distribute it. Leads day-to-day efforts on story scouting, field crew management and monitoring of scanner, digital platforms and news email. Oversees digital channel content distribution which includes news writing and editing, social media oversight and pushing out web and mobile breaking news alerts.
What You"ll Do
- Serve as real-time editor responsible for story scouting, field crew management, story planning, news writing and editing for digital platforms, social media oversight and monitoring of scanner and news email as well as monitors audience analytics at the station to maximize opportunities.
- Proactively coach real time editors in digital and logistic skillsets . Mentor real time editors on how to write better, coordinate newsroom resources and plan coverage.
- Manage big event coverage and long-term planning efforts.
- Responsible for the work process procedures, training, designing and editing the way work gets completed.
- Works closely with Digital Director of the Real-Time Desk to set daily editorial goals.
- Perform other duties as needed and directed by the Digital Director of the Real-Time Desk
What You"ll Need
- BS/BA in Journalism or related discipline.
- Minimum 4 years of experience in content operations, with a preferred focus in digital media and content gathering.
- Must have experience with computerized news systems such as content management systems, basic HTML, image editing, web and TV-style writing and social networking.

- Knowledge of digital media as well as television content distribution, and actively work to gather elements advantageous to both platforms.
- News judgment to identify stories that drive audience growth and capitalize on core station mission and brand.
- Must be organized and able to work independently.

- Strong understanding of digital analytics.
- Ability to build strong relationships across functional teams and gain the respect of each.

- Ability to work various shifts
- Must be detail oriented, a strategic thinker and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated change management skills.
- Persuasive, encouraging, and motivating.
- Keen sense for anticipating issues and resolving them before they occur.
- Operates with considerable latitude. Independently performs assignments to results expected.
- Training/coaching experience preferred.
