The Colorado Broadcasters Association continues to fight for broadcasters at both the state and federal levels and your membership directly powers that advocacy. This past year, the CBA helped advance the AM Radio in Every Vehicle Act closer than ever to passage in Congress, successfully fought back against efforts to introduce categorical advertising bans through Colorado online gaming legislation, and continued defending newsroom access and transparency through advocacy surrounding CORA and Open Meetings Laws. We also proudly launched the inaugural Colorado Broadcasters Hall of Fame and celebrated another tremendously successful Awards of Excellence program with overwhelming participation from stations across Colorado.
At a time when broadcasters face increasing regulatory, legislative, and economic challenges, CBA membership delivers meaningful value through advocacy, FCC legal support, ABIP inspections, political advertising guidance, webinars, sales training, scholarships, and year-round industry representation. Membership dues and support of the NCSA program are what allow the CBA to continue providing these services while keeping Colorado broadcasters front and center with lawmakers and regulators whose decisions directly impact our industry. We encourage you to invest in the future strength and voice of Colorado broadcasting by renewing your 2026-2027 membership today. |

Resetting for the Second Half
Reclaiming Momentum to Shape Your Future
June 9th 10:00am (MT)
Something powerful happens every single July 1 and most people never notice it.
The broadcasters who do notice often change the entire trajectory of their year. July 1 isn’t a deadline; it’s a launch pad. It is a quiet doorway into the second half. It is a moment to step back, reset your footing, and step forward again with intention, clarity, and fire.
The first half of this year’s local sales is already written. The back half is still yours to shape. And the sellers who understand this truth, the ones who pause, recalibrate, and re‑aim, are the ones who cut through the noise in their market. This session is for those broadcasters.
Join Gary Moore, President of LBS, as he discusses why the back half of the year separates the good from the great, how to rebuild your plan with sharper focus, the hidden opportunities most sellers overlook between July and December, and the mental shift that reignites momentum when others are slowing down. This will be a reset, an opportunity to step into the second half with purpose and power. Your success in the next six months is entirely in your hands. This is where you take control.

AM Radio for Every Vehicle: Final Push! |
|
After years of advocacy, the AM Radio for Every Vehicle Act is closer than ever to becoming law. Congress continues to move the legislation forward, but a final grassroots push from broadcasters is critical to getting it across the finish line.
If your station is not already participating, now is the time. Please air the AM advocacy spots, encourage on-air talent to discuss the importance of AM radio, and engage listeners on social media. Every station, every spot, and every listener reached helps demonstrate why AM radio remains essential for public safety, emergency communications, and local communities. Let’s finish what we started and bring home this win for broadcasting. |

Want To Improve Your Stations? |
|
In many markets, you can flip between stations in the same format and basically hear the same thing. Same music mix…same presentation…same overall feel.
And when that happens, it becomes difficult for stations to stand out, let alone be memorable. Over time, that’s where stations can start to lose their identity. Not all at once, but little by little. The sound gets softer. The edges get rounded off. And before you know it, the station doesn’t feel as distinct as it once did.
That’s the part of the business we focus on. At Radio Consulting Services, we work with stations to get very clear about who they are, what they sound like, and how they win in their market. Not in a theoretical way but in a practical, on-air, day-to-day way that listeners…and advertisers actually notice. This can mean tightening the music, refining the presentation, coaching talent, or simply bringing more consistency and intention to the overall sound.
Because when a station is truly dialed in, you can hear it right away. It sounds confident. It sounds focused. And most importantly it sounds different from everything else around it. I’ve had the opportunity to work with stations in a variety of markets over the years, and one thing is constant, when a station gets intentional about its product, the difference is immediate.
Before, it may sound okay…but not memorable. After we fine tune things, it sounds like a station that knows exactly what it’s doing. And that’s what listeners and advertisers respond to.
If you ever feel like your station could be sharper, more defined, or just more competitive on air, I’d be happy to connect. Even a quick conversation can be useful. Please feel free to reach out to me. Because at the end of the day, great stations don’t happen by accident…they’re built with intention.
I’ll leave you with this. When I was just a young radio man, one of my early mentors, Bob Ardrey told me: “It’s a truly lucky person who knows what they want to do in this world…because they’ll never work a day in their life.”
And that’s true for some people. But there’s another group. People who find something they have to do. Something that sticks with them. Something that, if they couldn’t do it, would drive them a little crazy. I’m one of those people.
And I know there are others reading this who feel exactly the same way about radio.
If you’re one of them, if this still matters to you, then we should probably talk. Because together, we can build something better.
My name is Jon Holiday. I build radio stations...Thank you!

Quarterly Tower Lighting System Inspection
2026 Q2 ends this month (June), which means stations owning their towers must complete and document their “Quarterly Tower Lighting System Inspection.”
Let’s review the basic responsibility of tower owners whose towers must meet FAA painting/lighting requirements. Not all towers with an Antenna Structure Registration number (ASR) are required to meet specific FAA lighting/marking. |
