Biography

Murphy Huston has been a defining presence in Colorado radio for nearly four decades. Beginning his broadcast career in 1968 at WBIZ in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, he advanced to WISN in Milwaukee before joining Denver’s KHOW in 1986. Huston quickly became one of the most recognizable voices in the market, later joining KOSI in 1997 where he remained an integral part of the station’s identity until his retirement in 2024. Throughout his career, Huston was known for his warm, approachable style and professionalism, earning over ten Colorado Broadcasters Association Awards and a KOSI Certificate of Achievement for more than 25 years of service. His extensive on-air experience also included a decade as host of the Colorado Lottery’s television programming.

Beyond the studio, Huston contributed his voice and time to numerous Colorado organizations, including the Cancer League of Colorado, Volunteers of America, Children’s Hospital, and the Colorado State Patrol. He co-founded the nonprofit Golfers Against Cancer, which has raised over $25 million in support of cancer research. Recognized by Channel 7 as an “Everyday Hero,” Huston’s commitment to community and excellence in broadcasting has made him one of Colorado’s most respected and enduring radio professionals.
