Kelly Turner

Kelly Turner | Director of Operations | Hutton Broadcasting CO LLC
Medium Market Radio

Professional Experience Summary

Kelly Turner has been broadcasting to audiences in southwestern Colorado and the Four Corners region for 34 years. Kelly attended school at Dove Creek High School, and graduated from Montezuma-Cortez High School. While a junior at MCHS, Kelly was offered the weekend overnight slot on KRTZ Radio. Through the remainder of high school and his “gap year”, Kelly worked his way up through the system and by the time he went off to college, was a full-time employee. While in college, Kelly worked for the college’s radio station, bringing a bit more experience to the station than that to which they were accustomed. After college, Kelly came back to Cortez, was offered a part-time newscaster position, then worked his way up to news director, sports director, program director, station manager, general sales manager, general manager and is now the regional director of operations for Hutton Broadcasting’s nine stations in southwestern Colorado and northwestern New Mexico. Even after nearly 3½ decades of broadcasting, Kelly points out that he is still very much a “student” of the industry.

Reason for Running

Having served in programming, operations/compliance, sales, promotions and news, I feel like I bring a balanced background to the board. I’ve traveled extensively through much of Colorado, particularly the Western Slope, and I think I know the communities, infrastructure and demographics of this region.
