Biography

Alan Berg was one of the most provocative and influential voices in Colorado talk radio history. A former trial attorney who found his way into broadcasting, Berg developed a fiercely opinionated, confrontational, and often humorous style that challenged listeners and helped redefine the possibilities of talk radio. He became a prominent personality at Denver’s KHOW before moving to KOA in 1981, where the station’s powerful signal carried his unmistakable voice far beyond Colorado. Known as “the man you love to hate,” Berg understood how to engage audiences, challenge conventional thinking, and make radio impossible to ignore.

By the early 1980s, Berg had gained national attention for his outspoken commentary and willingness to confront controversial issues. On June 18, 1984, his life was tragically cut short when he was murdered outside his Denver home by members of a white supremacist organization. He was just 50 years old. More than four decades later, Berg’s influence remains part of Colorado broadcasting history, remembered for his fearless approach, distinctive personality, and lasting impact on generations of talk radio broadcasters.
