Professional Experience Summary
After a dozen years in the community banking business, Alec and Christie Creighton purchased Northeast Colorado Broadcasting based in Fort Morgan and Sterling in 2003, and in 2017 acquired the KNAB stations in Burlington from the estate of longtime Colorado broadcaster Bette Bailly. Both Alec and Christie are active in the day-to-day operations of the stations.
The flagship station of Northeast Colorado Broadcasting is “Farm Radio” 1010 KSIR known for its coverage of agriculture news and issues in Northeast Colorado. Other stations have a variety of formats and local information to serve the rural communities in Eastern Colorado, including the only Spanish language radio station in the area.
All of the stations in the group actively participate in community events, local chambers of commerce, youth initiatives and economic development efforts. Company stations have won numerous CBA Awards of Excellence, CBA Radio Station of the Year on five occasions, and have been recognized locally with awards including Business of the Year. Alec has served on several local boards and is active in community service clubs and has taken his turn as president multiple times.
Reason for Running
Our stations have always been CBA members and supportive of CBA efforts to serve and promote broadcasting. I was elected to the CBA Board three years ago. It has been my honor to represent small-market radio broadcasters, and to work with the other board members and management of CBA in our important function of advocating for our industry. Broadcasters face many challenges to how our business model operates and the ways we connect with and serve our communities. With my industry experience and business background, I believe I can continue to bring the small-market radio perspective to board discussions and contribute to the leadership role the CBA plays for all Colorado broadcasters.
