Lee Larsen’s broadcast career began in Southern California at KAPP-FM in Redondo Beach, where he transitioned from operating the transmitter to becoming an on-air presence while still in high school. After earning his degree from Pepperdine University, he held marketing and sales leadership positions at several Los Angeles and San Francisco stations, including KHJ-AM, KROQ, KFI, and KLOS. His growing expertise in programming and station management ultimately led him to KOA and KOAQ in Denver in 1983, where he became general manager during a pivotal period when the radio stations separated from their television counterpart. Under his leadership, KOA maintained its dominance in the Denver market through strong programming, sports partnerships, and a focus on cultivating exceptional talent.

Larsen later became market manager for a group of eight Denver radio stations following industry deregulation in 1996, before advancing to regional senior vice president. He twice served as president of the Colorado Broadcasters Association and held leadership positions with several civic organizations, including the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce, Denver Metro Convention and Visitors Bureau, and Denver Broncos Charities.
