This week, CBA President & CEO Justin Sasso and Greeley Broadcasting Corporation Owner/Operator Lindsay Salazar traveled to Washington, D.C., to meet with Colorado’s bipartisan congressional delegation and urge immediate passage of the AM Radio for Every Vehicle Act. Their message was clear: Congress has only a narrow window to move this critical public safety legislation, and it must not be jeopardized by attempts to attach unrelated measures such as the Performance Tax.
As wildfires continue to threaten Colorado, including the Aspen Acres Fire surrounding Salazar’s tower site, these stations remain a vital lifeline, providing emergency information to residents, awaiting word on when they can safely return to their homes and businesses. The CBA extends its sincere thanks to the members of Colorado’s congressional delegation who continue to stand with their local broadcasters in protecting a free, reliable public safety system and ensuring AM radio remains available in every vehicle, rather than allowing public safety to be sacrificed in the pursuit of monetizing the automobile dashboard.
We also encourage all Colorado broadcasters to continue airing the NAB’s AM Radio for Every Vehicle public service announcements to help keep this issue front and center as Congress considers this legislation in the coming weeks.
